The Other Side Of Suffering

After three long years
of real, living Hell
replete with actual devils,
demons and pitchforks,
I find myself content
and at peace
in a lush, green haven.

On the other side of suffering
(if you survive, my friend)
there is life.

What a miraculous surprise;
what an unexpected blessing:

just to be me and to be here,
alive and breathing,
on this lovely evening.
